And for a post-modern take on a classic…
Wow! The interest in a bedbug costume for this years Halloween has been huge! It has been one of the top requests the whole month at our site! Sadly, even with scouring the internet and physical “brick-and-mortar” stores it seems that you folks are just a year ahead of the curve on this particularly apropos costume! We have yet to find a site or store that is carrying a decent bed bug costume for either an adult or child, man or woman. (If you own such a store or site, or have found one that carries a decent outfit make sure to comment below so we can link to it!). What we have seen on the internet are very sad and oft times misinformed instructions for a do it yourself, homemade costume with wings?!? Bed bugs do not fly, they walk/run since they have no wings at all, but do posses 6 very nimble and quick limbs. We have already gave some simple tips for constructing your own costume, that being said, it appears that the online retailers have discovered a growing interest in insect costumes, but only in the quote “Fun”, “Cute”, or “adult “Sexy” type genre a la lady bug type outfits but nary a Stink Bug, Praying Mantis, or Bed Bug (give it time though…).
Like we have alluded to in a prior post, your best bet this year if your heart is set on a bedbug motif is to create your own, personalized costume, for a child it could be cute, warm and fuzzy, use a headband with antennae attached, a brown or read pillow case and pillow for a thorax, and tights and 4 more periphery legs sewn on to the pillows. For an adult, well, as an adult female I would go with nice leggings or pantyhose and skip the pillows! Go with a brown tank top and skip the 4 legs, wear an antenna headband and get some fake blood around your mouth and “Dracula/Vampire” teeth. For a guy, unless you have great abs, skip the tank-top and go with a puffy red/brown sweater, sweatshirt or hoodie.
If creating your own costume this year seems too daunting, but you still want a bug costume, check out Lady Bug/spider costumes for this year:

Have a fantastic and safe Halloween this year from the Bed Bugs Bite Web Site Staff!
Did not get a bedbug costume made in time for this years Halloween, should have one for 2011 though. Thanks for the tips on making one though.
Opted not to make my own costume this year, went as a cowboy instead. Maybe next year my girlfriend and I will go as a bed and bed bug though if we start making them early.
bedbugs are scary. It seems like a better costume for people who have never had them as once you have tried to get rid of them you never really want to see one again.
Dressed our two kids as a ladybug and a stinkbug, was toying with a “bug” or insect theme for the whole family but could not find a decent costume for myself this year. Next year the wife and I may go as an exterminator and a bed bug though
Made my own costume this year, it was not too bad so I may try and make them ala DIY from now on, I had always bought new Halloween costumes from the store or online in the past. Thanks for the tips.
Could not find a costume to wear this year, maybe they will be selling one next Halloween in my size (I only saw one for kids along with a lot of Lady Bug costumes for women this year).

Did not have time to sew a costume this year, and did not find a bug or insect costume I liked this year, will try again for Halloween 2011 though!
Happy Holidays
Sewed a costume up for my daughter thanks to your tips, was a big hit at her party. Keep up the good work

I thought about a bug costume, but the more I find out about bedbugs the more gross they sound! Pass!
Good costume idea but hard to find premade at the store. Going as an exterminator is much easier.
Never have seen or even heard of wearing one before, might make a fun Halloween outfit for 2011 though if I do not procrastinate again.
Do not think I have the figure to pull it off, maybe an exterminator costume though, replete with a little plumbers crack unless I hit the diet hard before the next Halloween!
